STETZINE Intro

The first article in a new publication can be intimidating. Especially when the intention is to let this become whatever the collective will of the contributors decides to make it. I should discuss the origin story of STETZINE here and that should suffice for now.

STETZINE is part of a larger project called STET.ART. It’s one of those blockchain endeavors wrapped with ideologies and ambitions to participate in making improvements to the current systems in place regarding the Creator Economy and even the art world. The project is obviously focused on art and in this case, NFT technology. Myself and those that are getting involved have discovered each other in a community around a specific Blockchain Network called BitClout.

We all have different opinions and most of us, I believe, are smart critics with well-balanced perspectives. In other words, this publication won’t be filled with positive fluffy content to help promote yet another cryptocurrency. What will it be, then?

The content will likely vary and we will not focus strictly on BitClout or even crypto or art necessarily. We all want to let the writers speak their minds on any topics, find the nuances and let them publish what they feel would be good and appropriate content to have contained within the STETZINE. This is the interpreted ethos of this publication. The word “stet” and the phrase “let it stand” will remind us of this.

Having said that, there is an agenda here as well. Most, if not all, articles will include a section that promotes an artist, creator, collector, developer and/or project that is part of the STET community. These article sections may include a summary that links to another article that is more focused on the subject/promotion or it just might be the summary itself. There may be an art NFT that is for sale or soon to be released that we will promote along with a short interview or write-up/review. Something to that effect.

The idea is to intermix long-form content with short-form content and include other media (audio, video etc) where appropriate. The format and content strategy (if we can even call it that) may shift over time but this is the simple template that we will try to use for now.

We encourage people to get in touch with us if there is any interest in contributing content whether on a regular basis or not.

The Treachery of Images
NFT Available on BitClout

^^ This Is Not an NFT? Actually it is.

I was fortunate to have won the bidding for serial #1 of 10 of this clever NFT by @CryptoGraphr. The other 9 are still available atm. Go get one!

The Treachery of Images is a 1929 painting by Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. It is also known as This Is Not a Pipe and The Wind and the Song. Magritte painted it when he was 30 years old. It is on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The famous pipe. How people reproached me for it! And yet, could you stuff my pipe? No, it’s just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture “This is a pipe”, I’d have been lying!

— René Magritte[4]

More on STET.ART

STET.ART is a BitClout Node under development catering to NFT Artists and Collectors as well as providing decentralized storage integrations (Arweave, IPFS, Hypercore).

This node will involve curators and provide an alternative UI to the default Bitclout frontend found on bitclout.com and most of the other current nodes. We also hope to innovate around discoverability and search but curation will be the primary approach that will be taken to expose current content creators that are on Bitclout as well as related to efforts to onboard others.

The STET.ART node and STETZINE will be used together to achieve the goals of promoting people and projects that are exploring the Art NFT space and the broader effort to further decentralize the BitClout Blockchain Network.

STET.ART and STETZINE are projects of STET.STUDIO and the STET Community.
